2024 Frank Lloyd Wright Collection
new! WATERLILIES COLLECTION
Waterlilies Unexecuted (1895) The delicate stylized glass design of waterlilies, common in the tranquil ponds of the Midwest, is adapted from Frank Lloyd Wright’s drawing “Waterlilies,” which is thought to be designed for an art glass screen in
1895 but never produced. This early example epitomizes Wright’s ability to incorporate themes from nature into his geometric designs and exemplifies his philosophy of “organic architecture” –creating harmony between elements of the natural world and his designs.

TREE OF LIFE COLLECTION
Tree of Life, Darwin D. Martin House, Buffalo, NY (1903-1905)
This Tree of Life is based on one of the 4,000 leaded art glass window and door designs featured prominently throughout the Darwin D. Martin House (1903-05). Wright also created art glass designs for doors, skylights, back-lit ceilings panels, table lamps, and wall sconces. Wright’s geometric abstraction of the ancient tree of life symbol using a square for the roots, straight lines for the trunk and chevrons for the branches is found in several variations in the house.
